REUPHOLSTERY VS. BUYING NEW
You want a new look, so the decision is do I buy new or reupholster. Here are some points to consider when making the choice.
FACTORY MADE VS. HAND-CRAFTED
Buying new furniture can be a risky business, consumers are often fooled by decorative exteriors which hide the cheap materials used in the mass-production of today's furniture. Today so called quality furniture is no better then budget furniture of days past, in most cases springs are replaced with Rubber Webbing, hardwood replaced by plywood, joints in the frame in most cases are stapled together, no screws or dowels and in some cases no glue. It all comes down to this simple truth: factory-made furniture is put together cheaply on an assembly line is less durable then a quality piece reupholstered by a trained craftsman. What you want is a quality product that will suit your taste, match your decor, fit into a particular space. What better way to achieve that then by reupholstering your present furniture.
Usually in furniture stores your choices of fabric is limited in regard to colors, pattern and style. Don't settle for at best one of five options when you can have your choice from thousands of colors, textures, patterns, outdoor, or you may also supply your own fabric.
Another reason for choosing to reupholster is being able to redesign your old furniture for a completely new look. Add or remove skirts, restyle arms, make loose cushions, etc. The possibilities are endless and in the end not only you will love the new look, you will have a heirloom quality piece your family can enjoy for many years to come.
MORE VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY
The cost of reupolstering may equal the cost of buying new, but what you get back is the reliability of a long lasting product.
